CHPS is comprised of several Clinical Research Cores designed to facilitate the research process. Each Core is overseen by a Director who has extensive expertise and serves as a resource for investigators and trainees. Investigators are strongly encouraged to discuss their proposed project with appropriate Core Director prior to submitting a proposal to CHPS. Hours of operation for most core areas are Monday to Friday normal business hours. You must contact the Core Director prior to submission if your study requires off-hour services.
To submit a proposal, investigators complete an online eCHPS application via the eResearch system. IRB submissions can be completed via the same mechanism simultaneous with the CHPS submission. CHPS reviews each protocol submission for approval. Protocols must have both IRB and CHPS approval prior to utilization of CHPS services and resources. Investigators who are not based at CHOP should contact CHPS administrative staff for specific submission instructions. Study start-up meetings are required for all approved studies with the study team and CHPS Core staff.
CHPS staff are not considered a part of the IRB approved study team and do not sign 1572 forms or provide CVs to sponsors. All CHPS staff complete required research specific trainings (e.g., CITI, and Hospital and Research Institute mandatory training), as well as job specific training (e.g., IV certification for nurses).
